While many of us are setting goals for the new year, just as many of us are struggling with mindset and motivation after our break. It is very normal to be lacking in motivation after the break but it isn’t necessary.

An effective break in a well planned for business, will leave you refreshed, renewed and excited about the direction the business is headed in, not lacking motivation.

So how can you reset and find that motivation to get you excited about your 2020? Goal setting and planning! 

Setting goals is easy to do but the real challenge is to follow through to make sure you are achieving those goals.

Here are some actionable tips to create and achieve your 2020 goals.

-Write your goals based on your priorities.

The easiest way to track your goals is by writing it based on what you want to accomplish first. In that way, you can focus on each goal one at a time and tick off your list.

-Make your goals SMART.

Specific – Be specific on what you want to do.

Measurable – How will you know you are accomplishing the goal?

Achievable – How will you fulfill the goal?

Relevant – Does the goal in line with your overall objective?

Timely – Set a time when the goal should be accomplished.

-Plan your strategy.

Now that you realize what your goals are, create a strategic plan on how you will achieve your goals. Create a 30-60-90 day plan that you can revisit and revise based on your progress each month.

-Review your goals and strategies with your team.

As the saying goes, “No man is an island.” Sit down with your team and get their feedback. They may agree, or they may have useful insights that you haven’t thought of. Involving your team in your business goals will inspire and motivate them.

-Use a goal-setting app.

It is important to keep track of your progress and the best way to do that is by using a goal-setting app that will allow you to see how close you are in achieving your goals.

-Communicate with your team.

See to it that you will communicate the updates on your goals with your team. Make them accountable for their parts to accomplish your goals.

-Reward yourself and your team.

For every achievement unlocked, take time to celebrate your wins.  This will keep you and your team motivated to accomplish the next goal.
